Ohhhh baby

If you haven’t checked out Alexander Wangs Autumn/Winter 09 collection yet, get around to it quick smart! I just watched the podcast of his NYC fashion week show for the 12th time and I’m absolutely in love with Wang and every single piece of clothing he produces. He is the future of fashion. End of story.

the sweet shop has a sister thats nice too…

i walked into work today and hoff’s, the token director among us (there’s no token black guy so…), was checking out a cool website and watching some nice commercials with good creative, production and thanks to the sweet shop, great direction. the sweet shop groups 13 directors together who’ve worked on projects ranging from that freaking whack tooheys campaign with the dude farming and freezing extra dry out of big crazy flowers (check it out here, its #3, directed by steve ayson) to campaigns for NY times, nissan, LG, lynx, doritos and converse… the list goes on and on.

hit up the link to their sister company and you’ll get the same level of talent thrown at creating “innovative content for emerging platforms”. I’ll let them explain:

The Rumpus Room was born out of The Sweet Shop and started to form with the Make a Big Noise campaign for Oxfam International before Tomas Roope joined from Tomato.
From its inception it has gone out to challenge conventions. It has taken campaigning into emerging communication environments. Its core strength is its experience in combining emotional media with user participation and these will be invaluable skills in the revolution that is occurring as entertainment jumps over to non-linear platforms.”

check them both out… the sweet shop & rumpus room.

shawn barber

i’ve been a massive fan of shawn barber since his work graced the cover of EMPTY MAG way back in late 2006. the way he blends tight paint marks and loose textures is amazing. and i just straight out dig his subject matter. the wonder kids at fecal face have hooked up a nice interview with the man with some beautiful images of his work. this quote pretty much explains why i love shawns attitude and his work; “Be honest and critical with your flaws and shortcomings- challenge yourself to acknowledge your weaknesses and work towards progression. Coming up with a gimmick or style only lasts so long. Don’t copy your idols.” respect.

check out his new work and see the baby dolls he has going through some of it. anything creepy and evil like baby dolls are awesome. love them. if you made it to my last show you would have seen the baby dolls i painted black and white. awesome.

san fran will definitely be on the agenda for my next travel plans…

vid of shawn and his recent work.
